关煞位挤压(CO Squeeze)
CO Squeeze
Co-squeeze: A play in the cutoff (the second position to the right of the big blind) where a player makes a large re-raise against a previous raise and call, attempting to force most opponents to fold and isolate the remaining opponents.
Position and Context
CO (Cutoff, cutoff position) is to the right of the button, in a middle-late position with positional advantage. Squeeze usually occurs preflop: after one player raises and one or more players call, a player in a later position (such as CO or button) makes a large re-raise, aiming to exploit the swollen pot and the assumption that opponents' ranges are weak, forcing most players to fold.
Strategic Considerations
- Timing: CO Squeeze is typically used when the initial raiser has a wide range and the cold-callers have weak structures. It works particularly well when the blinds are passive or have deep stacks.
- Range: A typical squeezing range includes strong hands (e.g., QQ+, AK) as well as some medium-strength or blocker hands (e.g., A5s, K9s) to balance value and bluffs.
- Sizing: The squeeze raise is usually 3.5–4.5 times the initial raise, with adjustments based on the number of callers and stack depth.
Risks and Responses
The success of a CO squeeze depends on opponents folding often enough. If opponents frequently defend, you need to adjust your range and be mindful of positional disadvantage. Facing a re-squeeze ( 4-bet ), strong hands can continue, while medium-strength hands require caution.
Typical Example
- Preflop: UTG raises to 3bb, MP calls, CO holds A♠K♠ and raises to 12bb, forcing most players to fold.
Variations
- Button Squeeze (BTN Squeeze): Better position allows a slightly wider range.
- Blind Squeeze: Has positional disadvantage, so requires stronger hands.
