HJ 10BB 泡沫期玩法(HJ 10bb Bubble Play)

HJ 10bb Bubble Play

Strategic decisions and range adjustments when in the HJ Hijack position with an effective stack size of about 10 big blinds during the tournament bubble phase.

Concept

HJ 10bb Bubble Play refers to the play when you are in the HJ position (hijack, one seat before the cutoff) with a stack of approximately 10 big blinds (BB) during the bubble phase of a poker tournament (i.e., on the verge of the money, with remaining players slightly above the payout spots). At this point, ICM (Independent Chip Model) pressure is significant, and players must balance survival value against the reward of accumulating chips.

Key Considerations

  • ICM Pressure: Elimination on the bubble yields zero payout, so survival weight is higher than usual. A 10BB stack is short but still offers room to maneuver—you can shove all-in or raise and evaluate opponent reactions.
  • Position: HJ is in a middle-to-late position, with more information than early positions, but still facing potential action from later positions (CO, BTN, blinds).
  • Opponent Tendencies: Tight players may overfold, while loose players may call or re-raise.

Common Strategies

  • Shoving Range: Typically includes medium pairs, ace-high hands, king-high hands, and suited connectors (e.g., 87s). The exact range should be adjusted based on opponents. In general, HJ's 10BB shoving range covers about 20-30% of starting hands.
  • Raise (Non-All-In): Raising to 2-2.5BB is rarely used because the remaining stack only allows for one call or shove reaction, often leading to a passive position. In most cases, shoving is superior.
  • Fold: Low-quality hands (e.g., QTo, J9o) are typically folded to avoid giving away chips unnecessarily.

Risk Notes

  • On the bubble, avoid excessive aggression, but being too passive may cost opportunities to reach the top payouts. Specific decisions should be based on table dynamics, opponents' stack sizes, and the payout structure.
