Strategy Logic

The core of this strategy is: the player bets with a specific range of value hands or bluffs on the river, but if the opponent raises, the player folds regardless of hand strength. This strategy assumes that the opponent's raising range on the river is heavily skewed toward strong hands (e.g., nuts or very strong value hands) and contains very few bluffs. Therefore, folding is theoretically the highest EV decision.

Applicable Scenarios

• The opponent's raising frequency on the river is very low, and their raising range has a minimal bluff component.
• The player's own betting range has insufficient value part to withstand the opponent's raise.
• Used as a simplification to avoid complex range analysis when facing a river raise.

Risks

• If the opponent detects this strategy, they may exploit it by raising to force folds of medium-strength hands, thereby profiting.
• A static range may lead to value betting too thinly or bluffing too frequently, reducing overall betting efficiency.

Difference from Dynamic Strategy

A Dynamic strategy adjusts betting and folding decisions based on board structure, opponent tendencies, and one's own range. In contrast, the Static strategy fixes the betting range and does not change in response to opponent raises, making it simpler but more exploitable.

Example

Suppose the river is rainbow, and the board has no possible straight or flush. The HJ player holds top pair with a mediocre kicker and bets 2/3 of the pot according to the static range. The opponent raises 3x. Per the strategy, the HJ player folds immediately, even if the opponent might be bluffing occasionally.
