小盲10bb三-bet全下(SB 10bb 3-Bet Jam)

SB 10bb 3-Bet Jam

Small blind position with effective stack of 10 big blinds, directly 3-bet jam against a raise from early position.

Concept

SB 10bb 3-Bet Jam is an aggressive short-stack play from the small blind. When the effective stack depth is around 10bb, the small blind, facing a raise from an early position (e.g., UTG, MP), skips the standard three-bet sizing (typically 2.5–3.5x the raise) and goes all-in directly. This strategy aims to maximize fold equity and simplify decision-making.

Principles

  • Chip pressure: 10bb is within the short-stack range, and shoving puts enormous pressure on the opponent—calling risks elimination, while folding loses the invested raise amount.
  • Position disadvantage: The small blind has the worst postflop position, so shoving avoids difficult postflop play.
  • Pot odds: If the early position raises to about 2.5bb, the small blind shoves 10bb, the opponent must call 7.5bb to contest roughly 13.5bb (including blinds), offering pot odds of about 1.8:1, requiring approximately 35.7% equity. Therefore, the small blind's shoving range should have sufficient equity.

Common Range

Typically uses a linear or polarized range:

  • Value range: TT+, AJ+, KQ, and other strong hands that have an edge against the opponent's calling range.
  • Bluff range: A2sA5s, small pairs (e.g., 2266), suited connectors (e.g., 76s), etc., to balance the value hands and profit from fold equity. The actual range should be adjusted based on the raiser's looseness/tightness, and care is needed to avoid being called by the big blind.

Usage Scenarios

  • Most favorable when the early position raiser is loose and has a high fold-to-shove rate.
  • Not advisable to do this too often when the big blind is deep-stacked, to avoid being squeezed.
  • In tournament late stages with sensitive ICM, be cautious to avoid marginal shoves that could lead to elimination.
