小盲位20BB防守(SB 20bb Defense)

SB 20bb Defense

Preflop, small blind player's calling or raising defense strategy when facing effective stack of about 20 big blinds.

Overview

SB 20bb Defense is a preflop strategy in Texas Hold'em for short stack situations (approximately 20 big blinds). When a player is in the small blind with 20bb effective stack, due to positional disadvantage and invested costs, the defense range must be adjusted to avoid over-folding or calling too wide.

Strategic Principles

  • Positional Disadvantage: The small blind is always in the worst position postflop, thus requiring stronger hands or a specific plan to compensate.
  • Pot Odds: When the big blind folds frequently or the small blind's raise-and-fold is profitable, more frequent raises or all-ins are viable. However, at 20bb depth, raises often cannot apply enough pressure on callers, so all-ins or calls are common options.
  • Range Construction: Typically uses a polarized range—raising all-in with strong hands, calling with some medium hands, and folding weak hands. Postflop after calling, a clear execution plan is needed (e.g., shove with top pair, fold otherwise).

Common Adjustments

  • Facing a Raise: If the big blind raises, the small blind should tighten up, only shoving or folding with strong hands, avoiding tricky postflop situations by calling.
  • Opponent Tendencies: If the big blind folds too much, the small blind can raise wider to steal blinds; otherwise, tighten up.
  • ICM Impact: In tournaments, near the money bubble or pay jumps, consider ICM pressure and reduce the frequency of risky shoves.

Notes

This strategy is not fixed; adjust flexibly based on opponent style, table dynamics, and tournament stage. Example: With 20bb effective stack and holding A8o in the small blind, shoving to steal blinds against a tight-passive big blind is viable, but fold against a loose-aggressive opponent.
