UTG+1翻牌前对子加注-弃牌(UTG+1 Preflop Raise-Fold Paired)
In the UTG+1 position, a strategy of proactively raising preflop with a pocket pair, and then folding if facing a 3-bet from an opponent.
Position and Action
UTG+1 (Under the Gun +1) is the position immediately to the left of the UTG seat, an early position (EP). From this position, players face potential attacks from multiple yet-to-act opponents, so hand ranges and strategies must be cautious.
Strategy Meaning
"Raise-Fold" refers to first making an open raise, then folding when facing a re-raise (usually a 3-Bet) from an opponent. Combining this action with "Paired" (meaning pocket pairs) indicates that players execute this move only with pairs (e.g., small pairs like 22-99, or medium pairs like TT-QQ). Big pairs (KK, AA) are typically not folded easily, so they are not included in this strategy.
Typical Application Scenarios
- Early tournament stages or deep-stacked cash games: When opponents have a wide 3-Bet range, raising and folding with small pairs can avoid risk while still capitalizing on the potential set-mining value of pairs.
- Against tight-passive players: If a 3-Bet is encountered after raising, such opponents usually hold strong hands (e.g., big pairs or AK), so folding is a reasonable way to avoid trouble.
- Range balancing: Occasionally using raise-fold with pairs can prevent opponents from easily reading your hand, but the frequency should not be too high, or opponents can exploit it by 3-betting.
Notes
- This strategy is sensitive to stack depth: With deep stacks, the implied odds of flopping a set with a pair are higher, making a call more favorable; with short stacks, a shove may be more appropriate.
- Positional disadvantage: UTG+1 is out of position post-flop, so preflop folding is a common response to signals of opponent strength.
- Range expansion: Some players may also execute the same action with hands like small suited aces or suited connectors, but "Paired" specifically refers to pairs.
