WSOP Super Circuit Canada Makes History at Playground

The inaugural WSOP Super Circuit Canada at Playground has quickly become one of the biggest poker festivals ever held in the country. As the festival enters its marquee stretch, three WSOP Circuit rings have been awarded, Canadian players have swept the opening events, and Playground has already broken one of its own major tournament records. The biggest story, however, is still to come, with the CA$5,000 Super Circuit Main Event underway today with a staggering CA$10 million guaranteed prize pool.

Six Ring Winners and Paradise Tickets

In Canada’s first-ever WSOP Super Circuit, six players have secured coveted WSOP Circuit rings in record-breaking events, and they have also punched their ticket to WSOP Paradise 2026. Along with playing a pivotal role in Canadian poker history, every WSOP Circuit ring winner at Playground receives a $5,000 WSOP Circuit Paradise Package that includes free entry to the $2,750 WSOP Paradise Circuit Championship Mystery Bounty and hotel accommodations at WSOP Paradise’s new home: Baha Mar.

Record-Breaking Prize Pools

WSOP Super Circuit Canada at Playground is rewriting the Canadian poker record books, and the festival will soon establish a new benchmark for the largest tournament series in the country's history. Through the opening events, the series has generated approximately CA$5.78 million in prize pools. With the CA$5,000 WSOP Super Circuit Canada Main Event now underway and carrying a massive CA$10 million guaranteed prize pool, the festival is on pace to surpass the current Canadian record of CA$15.54 million in total prize money generated by a poker series.

Playground's festival features 18 WSOP Circuit ring events and more than CA$14 million in advertised guarantees, with the Main Event representing the centerpiece of the schedule. If the Main Event reaches its full guarantee, the series will add another CA$10 million to the total, pushing the festival's prize pools well beyond the existing CA$15.54 million benchmark. WSOP Super Circuit Canada needs only about CA$9.76 million more in combined prize pools to establish a new Canadian record, making the record-breaking performance increasingly likely as the festival continues.

The festival has already established one major record thanks to the CA$500 No-Limit Hold'em Mini Main Event. The tournament attracted an astounding 3,484 total entries across five starting flights, making it the largest field for a single tournament in Playground's history. The turnout comfortably surpassed Playground's previous record of 1,978 entries, set during the 2025 WSOP Circuit Main Event. The new mark represents an increase of roughly 76 percent and demonstrates the enormous response to the first WSOP Super Circuit Canada.

Daniel Negreanu Kicks Off the Main Event

With the history-defining success of Canada’s first-ever WSOP Super Circuit, it was only fitting that Canada’s #1 all-time money leader and one of the most famous poker players alive did the ceremonial “Shuffle Up and Deal” to kick off Flight A of the WSOP Super Circuit Canada Main Event. Joined by WSOP broadcaster Jeff Platt and Playground officials at the featured table, Poker Hall of Fame inductee and 8-time WSOP bracelet winner Daniel Negreanu did the honors and got Flight A of the CA$5,000 Super Circuit Main Event underway.

Already making his presence felt at Playground, Negreanu was joined by fellow poker notables Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi, Jonathan Little, and Dan “Jungleman” Cates as they and a lengthy lineup of famous poker pros and content creators took part in one of the most impressive poker meet-up games ever assembled.
