Sam Greenwood was born on October 11, 1988, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Before turning to poker professionally, he worked as a stock trader. He started playing online poker on PokerStars in 2006 under the screen name "Str8$$$Homey."

Greenwood plays online under multiple aliases, including Str8$$$Homey on PokerStars, IfHeDiesHeDies on Full Tilt Poker, DeanMalenko on online poker, and FlatTopTony on online poker. He has won over $6 million in online tournaments, with nearly $3.5 million on PokerStars and over $1 million on Full Tilt and online poker.
