William Alex Foxen

William Alex Foxen was born on February 1, 1991, in Cold Spring Harbor, New York. He played tight end for the Boston College Eagles football team before turning his focus to poker. In 2012, at age 21, he won the first World Series of Poker Circuit event he entered, held in New Orleans, but did not take poker seriously until after graduating from university at age 23.

After college, Foxen played online poker for a couple of years before transitioning to live tournaments in 2016, starting with buy-ins ranging from $200 to $500. He quickly moved up stakes, establishing himself as a formidable high-stakes player.

At the 2019 WSOP, Foxen finished 40th in the Main Event for a notable deep run. His biggest breakthrough came in June 2022 when he won his first WSOP bracelet in the $250,000 Super High Roller event, earning a career-best $4,563,700. He led throughout the tournament, defeating Brandon Steven heads-up after eliminating Phil Ivey (7th), Adrian Mateos (4th), and Chris Hunichen (3rd).

Foxen has two World Poker Tour final tables. In December 2017, he finished runner-up in the Five Diamond World Poker Classic, earning $1,134,000 after losing heads-up to Ryan Tosoc. He returned in 2019 to win the same event, capturing $1,694,995 and securing his first WPT title. His aggressive play and key hands, including a runner-runner flush against Danny Park, propelled him to victory.

In 2018, Foxen finished runner-up in Super High Roller Bowl V, a $300,000 buy-in event, after a competitive heads-up battle against Isaac Haxton. He briefly held the chip lead but eventually lost when Haxton made two pair on the river. This result solidified his reputation as a top high-roller competitor.

Foxen is known for a loose-aggressive style, characterized by frequent raises and re-raises, and a willingness to apply pressure post-flop. He is adept at reading opponents and using his table image to force difficult decisions. In 2021, he publicly opposed the WSOP’s COVID-19 vaccination mandate, sparking debate within the poker community. He and his wife, fellow poker pro Kristen Foxen (formerly Kristen Bicknell), were vocal critics of the policy.

Alex Foxen is married to Kristen Foxen, forming one of poker's most prominent power couples. The two often travel and play tournaments together. As of March 2025, his live tournament earnings exceed $45 million, according to The Hendon Mob.

Foxen is widely regarded as one of the top high-roller players globally, with multiple seven-figure scores and a reputation for aggressive, winning poker. His transition from college football to poker stardom reflects his competitive drive and adaptability.
