大盲位10bb防御(BB 10bb Defense)

BB 10bb Defense

bb-10bb-defense Refers to the defensive strategy adopted by the big blind player when facing an aggressive raise with a stack of approximately 10 big blinds, involving calling, re-raising, or pushing all-in to protect the blind and exploit weaknesses in the opponent's range.

Overview

BB 10bb Defense is a common short-stack scenario in Texas Hold'em. When the small blind or button player with approximately 10 big blinds (bb) chips makes a raise (typically 2.5-3bb), the big blind must decide on a defense approach based on their own range, opponent tendencies, and pot odds. The core of this strategy is to avoid folding too much (fold too much) and being exploited by opponents, while also avoiding unfavorable postflop situations.

Strategy Principles

  • Pot odds: The big blind has already invested 1bb, and calling requires only an additional 1.5-2bb, giving pot odds of roughly 2:1 or better, forcing the big blind to defend with a wider range.
  • Opponent range: The aggressive raising range with 10bb chips is usually tight, including premium hands (pairs, AX, suited connectors, etc.), and the big blind must balance value hands with bluffs.
  • Postflop playability: The big blind has a positional advantage (acting after the flop), allowing for more flexible bluffing or value betting.

Typical Actions

  • Call: Suitable for medium-strength hands (e.g., KQ, AT, small pairs) to see the flop and leverage position.
  • 3-bet/All-in: Use strong hands (e.g., TT+, AJ+) to shove all-in, forcing opponents to fold or go to showdown; also use some bluff hands (e.g., A2s, low pairs) to balance the range.
  • Fold: Very weak hands (e.g., 72o) are simply folded to avoid further losses.

Notes

  • Avoid over-defense: Against tight-passive opponents, you can tighten up, but against aggressive players, increase your re-raise frequency.
  • Stack depth: 10bb is a critical threshold; if the big blind has fewer than 10bb, defense becomes a binary choice between all-in or fold.
  • ICM impact: In the late stage of a tournament, defensive decisions must account for the payout structure and avoid unnecessary risks.
