HJ位10bb3-Bet全下(HJ 10bb 3-Bet Jam)

HJ 10bb 3-Bet Jam

Pre-flop strategy of 3-bet jamming from the hijack HJ with an effective stack of 10 big blinds.

Strategy Background

The HJ 10bb 3-bet jam is common in the middle to late stages of tournaments, when blind levels are high and effective stacks are short (around 10 big blinds). When facing an open raise from an early position (e.g., UTG, UTG+1), the player in the HJ position directly shoves all-in as a 3-bet instead of making a standard small raise.

Principle Analysis

At a 10bb depth, a standard small 3-bet (e.g., raising to 2.5bb) would commit a large portion of the stack, and if faced with a 4-bet shove, often leads to a difficult calling decision. Shoving directly maximizes fold equity and avoids being at a disadvantage post-flop. From a game theory perspective, this strategy balances value hands (e.g., AK, high pairs) and bluffs (e.g., A4s, KQs), making it difficult for opponents to adjust their calling range.

Applicable Scenarios

  • Primarily used against wide opening ranges from early positions (can be considered when the blind defense is weak).
  • Typically requires a high opponent fold rate, or that the opponent's opening range is weak.
  • If the opponent tends to call shoves frequently, reduce bluffs and shove only with strong hands.

Notes

  • In cash games, due to deeper effective stacks, this strategy is rarely used.
  • Consider ICM pressure: near the money bubble or final table, use with caution to avoid elimination risk.
