In the Money Spin and Go Strategy
In the Money Spin and Go Strategy
Spin & Go In the Money ITM Strategy Strategy for the in-the-money stage of Spin & Go tournaments, focusing on ICM pressure and three-handed short-handed dynamics.
Spin & Go is a three-player fast SNG tournament with a random prize pool multiplier. When the tournament reaches the In the Money stage (i.e., all three players are paid), the strategic focus shifts fundamentally.
Core Principles
- ICM Dominance: The Independent Chip Model (ICM) becomes the core of decision-making. Chip values are no longer linear; short stacks' survival value is extremely high, while the value of big stacks' chips for applying pressure is relatively reduced.
- Cautious All-in / Call: After entering the money, due to the stepped payout structure (typically 90% to first, 10% to second), preflop all-in and calling ranges must be significantly tightened. For example, shoving AT from the small blind may get called by a medium pocket pair from the big blind, while the big blind will fold some marginal hands due to ICM pressure.
- Adjusting Sizing: Stack depths are very shallow (usually 10-25 BB), limiting postflop play, so preflop range selection is crucial.
Common Strategy Points
- Short Stack (<10 BB): Exploit high fold equity by shoving with a wider range to steal blinds, but avoid being called by big stacks.
- Medium Stack (10-20 BB): Balance blind stealing with protection; need strong hands when facing calls from big stacks.
- Big Stack (>20 BB): Use chip advantage to raise frequently and apply pressure, but avoid building large pots with other big stacks, as this may benefit the short stack.
Application Scenarios
This strategy applies to the three-player confrontation at the final table (with no player eliminated yet; Spin & Go has all three players enter ITM simultaneously). In practice, after all three are paid, the focus is on the small difference between first and second place. Typically, when stacks are close, priority should be given to securing second place (i.e., survival) rather than risking it all for first.
