UTG+1 20BB 反偷(UTG+1 20bb Resteal)
UTG+1 20bb Resteal
In No-Limit Texas Hold'em, when seated at UTG+1 position with an effective stack of approximately 20 big blinds, a 3bet resteal strategy against an early position raiser.
Overview
UTG+1 is the position after UTG, belonging to early position range. When a player holds a short stack of about 20 big blinds at UTG+1, facing a raise from UTG, they can choose to 3bet resteal with a wider range to exploit opponent's fold equity and contest dead money. Typically, this strategy applies to late tournament stages or cash game shallow stack scenarios.
Principles
- Stack depth impact: 20BB is a short stack, all-in or 3bet usually commits, so the 3bet size for resteal should be near all-in (e.g., 2.2-2.5x the raise) to maximize fold equity.
- Position disadvantage: UTG+1 is out of position postflop, but if resteal succeeds, it avoids complex postflop situations.
- Opponent's range: UTG's raising range is usually strong, but facing a short stack 3bet all-in, many medium-strength hands (like AJ, KQ) will fold, providing profit potential for the restealer.
Applicable Conditions
- Opponent (UTG) raises frequently and has a high fold rate to 3bets.
- You hold blockers (like A, K, or small pairs), reducing the probability opponent has a strong hand.
- Example resteal range: A2s-A5s, K6s-K9s, small pairs (22-77), and some suited connectors.
Risks and Considerations
- If opponent calls, the restealer is usually at a disadvantage and needs to hit a strong hand or draw on the flop.
- Adjust frequency based on opponent tendencies: resteal frequently against tight-passive players, reduce against loose-aggressive.
- With 20BB stack, the EV of a resteal highly depends on opponent's fold equity; generally requires a certain threshold (e.g., above 60%) to be positive EV.
