UTG 10bb偷盲(UTG 10bb Steal)
UTG 10bb Steal
In Texas Hold'em, when a player has a stack depth of approximately 10 big blinds, the strategy of using all-in or a large raise from under the gun UTG to steal the blinds and antes.
Concept and Background
UTG 10bb Steal is a common aggressive strategy for short-stacked players in early position (UTG) in tournaments. When the stack depth is around 10 big blinds, players tend to jam all-in to take down the pot directly, as their hand range is wide but post-flop maneuverability is limited.
Strategy Principles
- Range Selection: Typically, UTG will shove with about 20%-30% of hands, including A-X, K-X suited, medium pairs, suited connectors, etc., to balance fold equity.
- Pot Odds: Opponents need to call at least 10bb to contest a pot containing blinds and antes (about 2.5bb), requiring roughly 30% equity to call. If opponents have a tight calling range, the steal success rate is high.
- ICM Pressure: In later stages of a tournament, short stacks exert more pressure on medium stacks. UTG's steal can force players in the big blind and others to fold when they miss.
Risks and Adjustments
- Vulnerable to Exploitation: If opponents accurately identify this range, they may call with medium-strength hands (e.g., KQ, A-10), putting the player at a disadvantage.
- Counter-Exploitation: Players should avoid shoving only premium hands, otherwise opponents can fold marginal hands.
- Stack Changes: When the stack drops to 8-9bb, calling odds become more favorable, and some high pairs may shift from shoving to calling.
Example
Assume blinds 500/1000, ante 100. UTG player holds A8o with 10,000 chips (10bb). He can shove 10,000. If the big blind's calling range is JJ+, AQ+, then the fold equity is about 85%, successfully stealing a 2,500 pot.
Common Mistakes
- Stealing Too Frequently: Three UTG steals within an hour increases the risk of being called.
- Ignoring Ante Structure: In high-ante formats, stealing frequency can be slightly higher.
- Only Stealing with Good Hands: In reality, you need a balanced range, including some speculative hands.
