25bb开池全下(25bb Open Jam)

25bb Open Jam

When the stack depth is around 25 big blinds, the player actively chooses a strategy of open-jamming.

Overview

25bb Open Jam is an aggressive preflop strategy in Texas Hold'em where a player with approximately 25 big blinds (bb) chooses to open by moving all-in instead of making a standard raise. This term is commonly used in tournament strategy discussions, particularly during the middle stack phase when players need to balance the risk of stealing blinds with survival pressure.

Rationale and Motivation

When the stack depth is between 20-30bb, a standard raise (typically 2-2.5bb) can put the player in a difficult spot if re-raised: calling may lead to an unfavorable postflop stack distribution, while folding costs a significant portion of the stack. Shoving all-in eliminates the complexity of postflop decisions while applying maximum pressure—forcing opponents to call with a narrower range, thereby increasing the success rate of blind steals.

Scope of Application

  • Late tournament stages: Blind levels are high, dead money in the pot is significant, and the reward for stealing blinds is large.
  • Tight-passive opponents: If opponents tend to call with a narrow range, shoving can efficiently capture dead money.
  • Your hand: Typically recommended with medium-strong holdings (e.g., AT+, KJ+, pairs, etc.) to avoid being dominated.

Pros and Cons

Advantages

  • Simplifies decision-making and prevents postflop mistakes.
  • Maximizes fold equity, especially against panicked short stacks.
  • Leverages ICM pressure (near the money bubble) to force opponents to fold.

Disadvantages

  • Surrenders postflop technical edge (e.g., if the player is strong postflop).
  • If called by loose-aggressive opponents, may lead to high variance.
  • Overuse can be exploited by opponents who adjust by calling with a wider range.

Typical Example

  • In a tournament with blinds 1000/2000 and an ante of 250, you are on the button (BTN) holding A♠10♠ with a stack of 50000 (approx. 25bb). Everyone folds to you, and you shove all-in. This forces the small blind and big blind to call with a narrow range; if called, you still have decent equity.

Notes

25bb Open Jam is not always the optimal play; actual usage should consider factors such as opponent type, tournament stage, and your table image. Modern GTO strategy recommends mixing in shoves, standard raises, and limps at this stack depth to avoid being easily exploited.
