CO位10BB防守(CO 10bb Defense)

CO 10bb Defense

co-10bb-defense Refers to the defensive strategy of calling, re-raising, or going all-in by the cutoff CO player when facing an opponent's aggression with a stack depth of approximately 10 big blinds.

Concept Background

In Texas Hold'em tournaments, especially late stages, the blind level is high, and players' stacks often drop to around 10BB. At this point, the CO position (Cutoff) is the first position after the gun, and its defensive strategy directly affects pot control and survival probability.

Defense Range and Strategy

Generally, when the CO has 10BB, the defense range is relatively tight, mainly using strong hands (e.g., pairs, high cards) to shove or re-raise to counter aggression from early position raises or blind attacks. Weak hands are usually folded to avoid marginal situations. A typical defense range example (not fixed): {22+, A2s+, K9s+, QTs+, JTs, A9o+, KJo+}.

Core Logic

  • Shove or Fold: In most cases, a direct preflop shove is common because 10BB is insufficient for postflop flexibility, and it forces opponents to fold or call with some equity.
  • Re-raise Sizing: If choosing a non-shove re-raise, it is usually pushed to about 2.5–3BB, but attention must be paid to the opponent's calling range and remaining hand strength.
  • Opponent Tendencies: Consider the opponent's raise frequency, position, and fold equity. For example, when facing a loose-aggressive CO raiser, the defense can be slightly looser; against a tight-passive player, tighten up.

Notes

  • Avoid investing too much in multi-way pots, as short stacks are difficult to play postflop.
  • Be aware of ICM effects: near the bubble or money line, choose shoving spots more carefully.

Relationship with Other Terms

  • CO 3Bet Range: The CO's 3-bet strategy against early position raises, typically including strong hands and some bluffs.
  • Short Stack Strategy: Overall play for stacks below 20BB, covering both defense and offense.
