HJ位10bb全下(HJ 10bb Open Jam)
HJ 10bb Open Jam
In a poker tournament, when a player in the HJ position has about 10 big blinds, the strategy of choosing to directly shove all-in as the opening raise.
Strategy Principle
HJ 10bb Open Jam is a common short stack strategy, mainly used in late tournament stages or when blinds are high. When the stack depth is about 10 big blinds, a standard raise (2-2.5bb) consumes a large portion of the stack and becomes difficult to play post-flop. Shoving all-in directly maximizes fold equity while avoiding complex post-flop decisions.
Applicable Scenarios
- Stack Depth: Typically between 8-12bb, with 10bb being the standard.
- Position Advantage: The HJ position is in the middle-late area, with CO, BTN, and the blinds behind, but it is not yet the optimal stealing position. When all players before you fold, shoving can put pressure on later players.
- Opponent Ranges: The shove is more successful if the blinds or CO players have tight calling ranges.
Shoving Range
- Value Hands: Such as TT+, AJ+, KQ, etc., hoping to be called by worse hands.
- Steal Hands: Such as small pairs (22-99), suited connectors (e.g., 67s), etc., relying on fold equity for profit.
- Adjustment Factors: Adjust ranges based on opponent calling ranges and ICM pressure (tighten near the money or final table).
Notes
- Avoid using this strategy against calling stations or players who frequently call.
- If there is a very large stack behind, they may be more willing to call, so tighten the range.
- Rarely used in standard cash games due to high short-term variance.
