HJ 30bb Push Fold is a tournament strategy designed for a specific stack depth (approximately 30BB) and position (Hijack). Its core idea is: when the stack is at a moderately deep level (30BB), the player in the hijack gives up complex post-flop play and only acts by pushing all-in (Push) or folding. This strategy is often used to counter aggressive small blind or big blind players and to simplify the decision-making process.

Strategy Principles

• Stack Depth Significance: 30BB is a critical value between “shallow stack” and “deep stack”. At this depth, the proportion of chips committed post-flop is relatively high (e.g., if you raise 3BB pre-flop, you have 27BB remaining with a pot of about 7-8BB), making it easy to fall into a “pot-committed” situation where an opponent’s aggression can force you to call an all-in. The push-fold strategy avoids this risk.
• Position Advantage: The Hijack is in the middle-late position, allowing you to act before the button and small blind. If you choose to push all-in, you put pressure on later positions (especially the big blind); if you fold, you lose little.
• Range Adjustment: A typical push-fold range includes: strong hands (e.g., TT+, AQ+) pushed directly; medium hands (e.g., small pairs, suited connectors) pushed based on the opponent’s fold equity; weak hands folded entirely.
