Position and Scenario

HJ (Hijack) is the position in a full-ring table located after the under-the-gun position (UTG) and before the cutoff (CO). This position is early among late positions but still offers good opportunities for blind stealing and squeezing. Turn is the fourth community card, at which point the betting action on the flop is complete, the pot is larger, and the board development may change hand strength.

Variant of Squeeze

Traditional squeeze usually occurs preflop: after someone raises and someone calls, a third player makes a large re-raise. Turn Squeeze extends this strategy to postflop: on the turn, when one player bets and another player calls, the player in HJ attacks both opponents with a raise, expecting them to fold due to weak hand strength or fear of pressure on later streets. This play relies on the opponents' flop betting and calling ranges being weak, or the turn card being favorable to the HJ's perceived range.
