HJ 3Bet refers to the action in Texas Hold'em where a player in the Hijack (HJ) position re-raises (i.e., makes the third bet) after an earlier position player (e.g., UTG, UTG+1, etc.) has opened with a raise. The HJ is the position after UTG and before the Cutoff (CO). It is generally a middle-to-late position with some positional advantage, though less than CO and BTN.

Purpose and Strategy

• HJ holds 77, UTG raises to 3BB, UTG+1 calls. HJ may consider a 3Bet bluff, forcing UTG+1 to fold and going heads-up against UTG with post-flop positional advantage.
